Romanian wet-lease operator Hello Jets (H3, Bucharest Henri Coanda) will add A320-200s on financial leases, BoardingPass.ro, a local aviation news website, has reported. The airline is expecting delivery of two aircraft, PK-AXR (msn 2881) and M-ABTG (msn 2885), by the end of January 2025.
Both aircraft are former Indonesia AirAsia (QZ, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) stock and are owned by Altavair. Both are 18.4 years old. PK-AXR remains in a maintenance facility at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, while its sistership is currently undergoing pre-delivery work at Kemble.
Hello Jets currently operates one B737-700 and two B737-800s. The B737-700 and one -800 are presently operating for Israir, while the second -800 is with LOT Polish Airlines.
"The acquisition of the two A320s represents a natural move for HelloJets as we continue to adapt to the current market conditions at the dry lease level," CEO Tudor Constantinescu told ch-aviation. "We have all the necessary capabilities to expand our AOC with this additional aircraft type."
"These aircraft are dedicated to the wet lease market, aligning with Hello Jets' focused commercial strategy. This approach has consistently positioned us as the top-performing Romanian airline in terms of economics. With these two new units, our fleet will grow to five narrow-body aircraft, making us the second-largest privately-owned airline in Romania by fleet size.”
