AeroItalia (XZ, Rome Fiumicino) has entered into a wet lease agreement with Marathon Airlines (O8, Athens) for one E175, changing earlier plans to dry lease the same aircraft.
SX-ASK (msn 17000330) began operating on behalf of AeroItalia on January 5, with its initial flight between Comiso and Perugia. It has since served destinations such as Rome Fiumicino, Cuneo, Trapani, and Bologna, ADS-B data shows. Before entering service, the 13.3-year-old E175 was stored at Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski from September 2024 until early January 2025. Is is painted in AeroItalia's livery.
The aircraft is on a long-term wet lease agreement for at least six months, with an option for renewal, AeroItalia CEO Ugo Calvosa confirmed to ch-aviation. Configured in a single-class layout, it seats 88 passengers and is owned by Blackbird Capital, with management handled by Air Lease Corporation.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that AeroItalia’s in-house fleet comprises two ATR72-600s and nine B737-800s. It also wet-leases two A319-100s from Fly Air41 Airways and one B737-400 from 4 Airways.
Previously, AeroItalia had planned to wet-lease two E175s and one E190 from Marathon Airlines, and dry-lease the third E175 (SX-ASK), as reported by ch-aviation. However, ADS-B data indicates that none of the other four aircraft have operated for AeroItalia so far. Two E175s remain stored in Bydgoszcz, while the E190 is currently deployed under a wet lease agreement with United Nigeria Airlines. Marathon Airlines also operates an E195 on behalf of Camair-Co.
