MedJets, doing business as Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, faces a wrongful death lawsuit at the Palm Beach County Circuit Court, Florida, following the crash of an Learjet 35(A) air ambulance at Cuernavaca, Mexico, on November 1, 2023, in which four people were killed.

The case seeking USD50,000 in damages was filed on February 4, 2025, by the estates and relatives of the pilot, Gerardo Alvarez Diaz, and onboard paramedic Mario Alberto Leon, who both died in the crash.

According to the charge sheet, the Learjet, registered as XA-IRE (msn 35A-354), owned and maintained by MedJets, took off from Toluca and attempted to land at Cuernavaca when it left the end of the runway and crashed into a wooded area and exploded, killing all four occupants, including Diaz and Leon.

The charge is that the braking and/or landing system failed as a direct result of negligence on behalf of MedJets, which was responsible for the maintenance and airworthiness of the aircraft.

The company is accused of having breached its duty of care to the victims in that it "negligently and carelessly" maintained the aircraft, failed to provide updates and supplements to manuals, and improperly trained and certified mechanics, among other things.

The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial to secure judgment for damages.
