Somon Air (SZ, Dushanbe) restored its flights between Dushanbe and Bishkek on March 14 after a four-year hiatus. It will operate on the route weekly but said it would increase the number of departures.

Flights are to be operated by Somon Air's fleet of B737-800s and B737-900ERs.

The resumption of air services between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan took place shortly after Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov agreed to settle a long-running border dispute between the countries on March 13. The two sides agreed on opening land border crossings and establishing air connections that were cancelled in 2021 following border skirmishes.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Somon Air currently operates four B737-800s and two B737-900ERs. It is also expecting two B737-8s dry-leased from DAE Capital.

The airline also operates B787-8(BBJ) EY-001 (msn 40695) for the Government of Tajikistan. This aircraft was originally delivered to Fuerza Aérea Mexicana in 2014 but was later sold to the Central Asian country.
