The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has warned it will fine or suspend flights of international airlines selling tickets to Nigerian passengers only to deny them boarding or later deport them over visa or travel restrictions.
In an April 2 statement, the NCAA emphasised that airlines must inform passengers of any potential entry barriers before departure and ensure accurate information regarding visa and travel document requirements.
This follows consumer complaints about airlines selling tickets to Nigerian passengers only to later deny them boarding or deport them due to visa or travel restrictions. The practice has caused significant distress to passengers and damaged the reputation of Nigeria’s aviation industry, said NCAA spokesman Michael Achimugu.
The authority called for the cooperation of all airlines to maintain the integrity of the industry and protect Nigerian passengers.
