Albinati Aeronautics (LUC, Geneva) has resumed operations with Citation aircraft in Switzerland following the delivery of a brand-new Citation M2 Gen2, while retiring the last Global 5000 from the fleet of Albinati Aviation, the company's Maltese division, ch-aviation research reveals.
Citation M2 Gen2 HB-VCA (msn 525-1188) departed the production facilities of Textron Aviation at Wichita Eisenhower on April 5 and arrived at Southampton two days later. The ferry route included stops in Hamilton, ON, Québec, Fort Resolution, Iqaluit, Nuuk, and Reykjavik Keflavik. Albinati Aeronautics previously operated several Citation-series aircraft, the most recent being a Citation Latitude, which was active between 2017 and 2018 before being transferred to the company's Maltese unit.
The Citation M2 Gen2 joins a Challenger 604 and a Falcon 8X on Albinati Aeronautics' Swiss air operator's certificate (AOC).
Meanwhile, Albinati Aviation retired the last of three Global 5000s it operated in Malta. The 19.9-year-old Bombardier Business Aircraft, M-MBFF (msn 9174), previously registered as 9H-ARE, is configured for up to 12 passengers and was based at Sion. It was last active on February 20, flying between Malta International and Johannesburg Lanseria. The long-range jet was subsequently reregistered in South Africa as ZS-BFF and later in the Isle of Man as M-MBFF. Originally delivered to Albinati’s Swiss unit as HB-JRS, it was transferred to the Maltese register in 2018. The other two Global 5000s were phased out in 2017 and 2022.
Albinati Aviation’s Maltese AOC continues to include two Global 6000s, alongside a Citation Latitude, a Falcon 6X, two Falcon 7X, and a Pilatus PC-24.
Albinati Aeronautics also privately manages aircraft placed on other registers, including France, Italy, and the Isle of Man.
