The United States Coast Guard (Washington National) has requested an additional USD50 million in its proposed budget for the current fiscal year, ending on September 30, 2025, to replace its GV(C-37A) long-range command and control aircraft.

"The current GV is over 20 years old, outside of Gulfstream Aerospace's service life, and well beyond operational usage hours for a corporate aircraft. This is a matter of safety. Much like the US Coast Guard’s ships that are well beyond their service life and safe operational usage, the Coast Guard’s aircraft are too," said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

CG-101 (msn 653) is a 23.7-year-old aircraft and is used mainly to carry the secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, and other Coast Guard senior leadership members. It is one of two long-range command and control aircraft at the Coast Guard's disposal, alongside 5.9-year-old G550(C-37B) CG-102 (msn 5617). Both aircraft are based out of Washington National and are the only two jet aircraft in the Coast Guard's fleet.

The funding request was first disclosed during a budgetary hearing by Representative Lauren Underwood, the highest-ranking Democratic member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
