Försvarets Materielverk, the procurement agency of the Swedish Air Force (SVF, Linköping Saab), has ordered two Global 6500s directly from Bombardier Business Aircraft to renew the country's VIP fleet. The contract is worth SEK1.1 billion kronor (USD115 million).

The two aircraft are scheduled for delivery to Sweden in November and December 2025. The modified Global 6500s will be designated as Tp 106 type by the Swedish Air Force and will be operated by the 75th State Aviation Squadron based out of Stockholm Arlanda.

They will replace the air force's current VIP fleet comprising one 29.2-year-old GIV-SP and one 16.6-year-old G550.

The military said that adding two new business jets of exactly the same variant will simplify operations compared to the current fleet of two different variants. The Swedish Air Force will also benefit from operational synergies with the three Global 6000(Eye)s contracted for delivery in 2027. The airborne early warning and control aircraft are based on Global 6000 aircraft and modified by Saab (Sweden). They will replace two Saab 340B(AEW)s currently operated by the Swedish Air Force.

The Swedish Air Force also operates two Learjet (KR-35A)s used for target-towing and electronic warfare. The aircraft are due to be replaced by three modified Learjet 60SEs. The first of these three, 60-280 (msn 60-280), began operating test flights around Linköping Malmen on April 28, 2025.

The country's special-mission business jet fleet also comprises two GIV-SP(S 102 B) outfitted for signal intelligence.
