Air Niugini (PX, Port Moresby) has added two incremental A220-100s to its existing order for six units of the type.

“The A220 is set to form the backbone of our domestic and regional fleet and will support economic development in Papua New Guinea,” said Seddon.

Air Niugini separately has lease agreements in place for three A220-300s from lessor Azorra. The company’s first unit of the type has entered final assembly at the Airbus Canada facilities at Montréal Mirabel. It is tentatively scheduled for delivery in September 2025, according to a remark made by chief executive Gary Seddon in November last year.

The arrival of the new Airbus fleet will help Air Niugini replace its Fokker Aircraft fleet. ch-aviation data shows the Papuan carrier operates three B737-800s, two B767-300ERs, four DHC-8-300s, two DHC-8-Q200s, one DHC-8-Q300, four DHC-8-Q400s, five F100s, two F70s, and one Falcon 900EX EASy.
