Alitalia (AZA, Rome Fiumicino) takeover rumours have been denied by Air France-KLM following various press reports started by a report in Il Messaggero but said it would be considering an acquisition in 2014 or later. Air France-KLM currently already owns a 25% stake in its loss making Italian Skyteam partner. According to Il Messaggero, AF-KLM would have offered a 20% premium to the Italian investors currently holding 75% of the shares as part of consortium CAI. Italian holding company IMMSI which owns 7% in Alitalia has also confirmed that CAI is not currently in talks with AF-KLM.
