Tortug' Air (Port au Prince) has applied for traffic rights to be allowed to operate a daily service linking Cap Haitien and Fort Lauderdale International. The route would be its first service to the United States and Tortug' Air plans to wet-lease a CRJ100 from South African charter operator CemAir (5Z, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) for the new service as Haitian carriers are not allowed to launch new routes to the United States themselves given the country's category 2 status with the US Federal Aviation Administration. Tortug' Air currently operates Jetstream 32s and Let 410s on domestic services and international routes to Providenciales and Santo Domingo La Isabela.
