AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International) has abandoned plans to set-up a new airline at Singapore Changi saying that costs for the operation would have been too high and the market potential too small following an internal study of the project. AirAsia and its subsidiaries AirAsia Philippines (Manila Ninoy Aquino International), Indonesia AirAsia (QZ, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) and Thai AirAsia (FD, Bangkok Don Mueang) already serve Singapore 42 times daily from 14 airports in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.
