Air Uganda (Entebbe) could potentially become partially state owned later this year as the Ugandan government has expressed its interest in investing in the carrier that is fully owned by the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development that also controls Air Burkina (2J, Ouagadougou) and Air Mali (Bamako). Previously the government had publicly discussed plans to resurrect national carrier Uganda Airlines (1976) (Entebbe) that had gone out of business in 2001. Air Uganda currently operates two CRJ200s and two MD-87s from Entebbe to Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam, Juba, Kigali, Mombasa and Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta.
