JetBlue Airways (B6, New York JFK) has announced it will start daily Fort Lauderdale International to Worcester Regional and Orlando International to Worcester Regional flights effective November 7. Both services will operate with an E190. The flights will mean JetBlue is the first scheduled carrier to operate there, and is the culmination of lengthy talks with Massport, the facility's owners, who first approached the airline in 2011 regarding the possibility of flights. Until now, airlines have been reluctant to service Worcester owing to its perceived "poor location, outdated landing systems, and poor weather patterns".
