Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) has become the first airline to operate international flights out of the newly renovated Tobruk airport with twice weekly flights to Alexandria Borg el Arab. Prior to its upgrading to "International Airport" status, Tobruk, Libya's oldest airport, had only seen service to Tripoli International with Buraq Air (UZ, Tripoli International) and Libyan Airlines. According to The African Aviation Tribune, plans are also afoot to introduce services to Jordan, Tunisia and Turkey.
