Zest Air (Manila Ninoy Aquino International) will, from May 10, begin the initial steps of its integration into AirAsia Philippines (Manila Ninoy Aquino International) with the transfer of both management and reservations to the control of Philippines AirAsia. Thereafter, on May 11, Zest Air's fleet of three Yunshuji Y-7s will be returned to their leasor, Xian Aircraft Company (Xi'an Yanliang), resulting in Masbate, Marinduque, Busuanga and Tablas being deprecated from Zest's network. The return of the MA60s and the transition of Zest to an all-Airbus fleet will pave the way for better use of limited slots at Manila Ninoy Aquino International as well as the launch of flights to Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro Laguindingan. International flights to Kota Kinabalu, Ho Chi Minh City, Macau International and Kuala Lumpur International will follow shortly after. The newly announced routes, in addition to gaining access to Zest Air's extensive domestic network, finally give Air Asia the chance to get its foot in the proverbial door, after struggling with less than 50% load factors in its first year of operation in the Philippines.
