Cape Air (9K, Hyannis) is likely to retire its entire fleet of seventy Cessna (twin turboprop) 402s once it finally reaches terms on an agreement for a new fleet type, the company’s new president Linda Markham has said. Speaking at the RAA Convention in Montreal on Wednesday, Ms Markham said the airline was still in talks with Italian aircraft manufacturer, Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM (Capua), on a possible acquisition of the P2012 Traveller piston twin as a replacement for the Cessnas. The regional carrier has plans to add three BN-2s to its fleet for use in the Caribbean on flights to Culebra and Virgin Gorda where short-field requirements preclude the use of the 402s. Delivery is expected to begin in August with service to commence from December onwards. Cape Air also operates two ATR42-300s for United Express in Micronesia.
