Darwin Airline (Lugano) and the regional authorities in Italy's Alto Adige/Südtirol province have agreed to a 4x daily Bolzano/Bozen to Rome Fiumicino service set to begin from the end of June. The route will be operated by Saab 2000s and will progressively increase until service entails 4x daily flights during weekdays and twice daily flights on weekends. The resumption of direct operations to the Italian capital comes after a 6 month interregnum following a decision by the previous operator, Air Alps (Innsbruck), to suspend the route in December 2012.
