Hefei Airlines (Hefei) along with all sixteen carriers operating into an out of Hefei Luogang International will, from May 30, switch operations to the newly completed Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, airport authorities said in a statement on May 22. According to the statement, Hefei Luogang Airport will no longer accept any landings or takeoffs after midnight on May 30. The new larger airport, Hefei Xinqiao Airport is located near the town of Gaoliu, Feixi County, 31.8 km from the centre of the city and will be a catalyst for the local aviation scene with 12 new routes already planned to launch once the transfer is made.
