Jambojet (JM, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) will launch operations during the first quarter of 2014, Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) Managing Director, Dr Titus Naikuni, has said. The news comes after Willem Hondius, a former executive with Dutch LCC Transavia Airlines (HV, Amsterdam Schiphol) and its parent KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol), was recently appointed CEO of the start-up. Quoted by Kenya's CapitalFM during the airline's AGM in Nairobi, Dr Naikuni said JamboJet would source its fleet from Kenya Airways and launch with two or three of Kenya's B737-300s before new equipment was acquired. "We will be targeting a market in Kenya. We will be targeting Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret as the demand and infrastructure grows,” he said.
