EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International) is currently evaluating its options for new long-haul aircraft with the A350, A380, B777 and B787 all being under consideration according to the country's civil aviation minister Abdel Aziz Fadel. EgyptAir plans to go ahead with plans to sell its initial batch of eight A320-200s delivered in the early 90s as well as its grounded B737-500 and A340-200 aircraft. It is also planning to retire its B777-200(ER) fleet. According to Fadel, EgyptAir hopes to make better use of the strategic location of its Cairo hub to increase its fleet to approximately 125 aircraft by 2022 with a focus on developing new long-haul links. It will launch four times weekly A330-200 service to Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta via Kuala Lumpur International on December 15 and plans to add Hong Kong International to its network in 2014 with São Paulo Guarulhos also being considered.
