Emirates (EK, Dubai International) president, Tim Clark, says that negotiations with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) are at an advanced stage with the likely outcome to be a "substantive" order for the new B777X. Speaking to the Financial Times, Mr Clark said, “We are in a relatively advanced stage of commercial negotiations . . . I think whatever happens there will be a substantive order for the new 777.” The UAE carrier is reportedly evaluating an order for between "100 and 175 of 777X aircraft", including the 350-seater B777-8X, and the 400-seater B777-9X. Emirates is among the most prolific operators of the 777 family with ten B777-200(LR)s, twelve B777-300s, ninety B777-300(ER)s and ten B777-Fs. Not to be outdone, Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has also made a pitch with its A380-800, A350-900 and A350-1000 also under consideration. Though Emirates is adamant that negotiations with all parties are still ongoing, an announcement is expected at the upcoming Dubai Air Show.
