Air Alps (Innsbruck) is to be liquidated, Austrian Aviation Net has revealed. According to Managing Director Günter Gast, all German and Italian employees were let go at the end of October when "serious" talks with Rostock Airways (Rostock) fell through at the last minute. "Unfortunately, a 'last-minute rescue' did not materialize. There was no investor willing to invest in the company. Therefore, we had the unfortunate task of informing all employees of the company, in Austria and Italy, of the development," Gast said. He went on to state that the airline had not been declared bankrupt but rather, had chosen to self-liquidate similar to that of defunct German carrier, Augsburg Airways (Munich).
