Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) President, Ramon Ang, has denied reports his firm, San Miguel Corp., is in talks with CEO Lucio Tan to buy the latter's stake in Philippine Airlines. San Miguel owns 49% of PAL while Lucio Tan Group holds a majority 51% stake. "We are not in talks to buy Lucio Tan's 51% stake in PAL," Ang said in a text message to ABS-CBNnews. In June, Lucio Tan Group said it was "seriously" looking into selling its remaining 51% majority stake in Philippine Airlines (PAL). The group acquired PAL from the government, which privatized the ailing carrier in the mid-1990s. ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda) has been rumoured to be in partnership talks with the Filipinos for some time.
