Haiti Aviation (Port au Prince) has suspended operations until further notice following a financial dispute with Falcon Air Express (Miami International), from which it leases an MD-83, N120MN (msn 53120). The airline only launched operations in July with 3x weekly flights between Port au Prince and Miami International. In its report, the Miami Herald says Falcon Air informed the Haitians on Wednesday night that it would no longer provide the plane and crew. “For the past week, we had been demanding payment. On Friday, they paid half and said they would pay the rest on Monday. It came and went. They asked us to wait until Wednesday,” Nelson Ramiz Jr., the general manager of Falcon, said. For its part, Haiti Aviation said it had had to contend with “major financial constraints” from the outset, and that, without “tangible solutions immediately effective support” it had to close its flights.
