Wizz Air Ukraine (Kyiv Igor Sikorsky) will establish a base at Lviv with effect from the end of April despite a delay in the delivery of its fifth A320-200 because of the current political situation in Ukraine. According to avianews, the LCC will adjust frequencies to operate most of its routes from Ukraine with just four instead of five aircraft.
"Wizz Air Ukraine will open a base in Lviv, but revise the frequency of flights on routes to optimize the schedule in accordance with demand," Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, Daniel de Carvalho, said. No exact breakdown of the destinations to be served was given.
The Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) subsidiary also counts Donetsk and Kyiv Igor Sikorsky as its other Ukrainian bases. From Lvov it plans to serve Dortmund, Girona, Kutaisi, Milan Bergamo, Naples Capodichino, Rome Fiumicino, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, Valencia Manises and Venice Treviso.
