Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen) is due to take delivery of its first of six B787-8s on order from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) in July with the type's maiden flight scheduled for August 1. Chinese aviation portal, WCARN, claims the carrier will likely deploy the type on flights between Fuzhou and Beijing Capital initially before using them on international services to North America, Europe and Australia.
Among the first long-haul destinations being considered, it said, are New York JFK and San Francisco in the United States.
The Dreamliners will be the China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) subsidiary's first widebody jets joining its existing fleet of fifteen B737-700s, seventy-eight B737-800s and six B757-200s. Currently, Xiamen Airlines serves numerous destinations in China as well as in South East Asia.
