Jet Airways (Mumbai International) is planning to transfer its eighteen ATR72-500s to its low cost subsidiary, Jet Konnect (Mumbai International), as part of plans to develop itself into a complete full-service carrier. The ATRs are currently used on Tier-II routes as well as on flights between Bengaluru International, Hyderabad International, and Chennai in the south of the country.

Under Jet's plans to improve Jet Konnect's operations and overall competitiveness, the turboprops, with the approval of their lessors, will be transferred to the subsidiary's air operator's permit where they will join five B737-700s, four B737-800s and two B737-900s. Jet Konnect will then be streamlined into a more conventional budget carrier while Jet Airways will maintain its core focus as a full-service carrier. Talks with pilots and flight crew representatives concerning the proposed changes are already under way.

Jet Airways is in possession of two operating permits for the Indian domestic market: one for full-service operations and the other low-cost operations.
