SkyWest Airlines (OO, St. George Municipal) has informed authorities at Chico Municipal Municipal Airport that it intends to terminate its services there with effect from December 2 leaving the northern Californian town without scheduled services thereafter.
According to local media, Skywest says its multiple daily flights to San Francisco, operated with E120s under United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) flight numbers, are no longer profitable owing to recent rises in maintenance and fuel costs alongside new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations governing pilot rest times and employability.
