Xian Aircraft Company (Xi'an Yanliang) has been issued a type certificate for its MA-60 turboprop aircraft by the Bolivian civil aviation authority (Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil - DGAC) paving the way for the aircraft to enter service in the mountainous South American country.
The Chinese manufacturer will shortly deliver the first of four MA-60s to BoA - Boliviana de Aviación (OB, La Paz El Alto) subsidiary, BoA Regional (OB, La Paz El Alto), which will use them on flights to the less accessible towns of Guayaramerin, Oruro, Puerto Suárez, and Rurrenabaque, amongst others.
The Fuerza Aérea Boliviana (Cochabamba) had operated two MA-60s on behalf of Transporte Aéreo Militar - TAM (La Paz El Alto) prior to withdrawing them from revenue service and placing them in storage.
