Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) is in talks with various undisclosed carriers over their becoming the launch customer for the launch-customer for the upcoming A220-100.
The type's original launch-customer, Sweden's Malmö Aviation (Malmö), earlier this month announced it would not be taking on the role citing concerns over the aircraft's incident-ridden flight testing programme.
“Other airlines are definitely interested, and we’ll be able to confirm their identity in due time,” Marc Duchesne, a spokesman, told Bloomberg news this week.
Since the type made its first flight in September last year, it has suffered a number of setbacks, the most recent being an engine failure during ground testing in May. Bombardier announced in January 2014 that entry into service of the CS100 would be delayed until the second half of 2015.
To date, the C-Series has garnered orders for sixty CS-100s and 140 CS-300s.
