SkyWise (Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) will commence scheduled operations in March next year with flights between Johannesburg O.R. Tambo and Cape Town International to go on sale in early February co-chairman Javed Malik has said.
Initial operations will include a charter flight between the two cities on February 11 catering to local school kids.
“Initially we will be offering a Johannesburg to Cape Town route starting from March 2015 and we will be looking to launch additional routes in the future,” Malik said in a statement.
The budget carrier, founded by former 1time airline (Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) executives Rodney James, Glenn Orsmond, Michael Kaminski, Johan Borstlap and Wayne Duvenage, struggled to get off the drawing board until it was acquired by PAK Africa Aviation, the Dubai/Pakistani-backed firm that acquired a 62% stake in Global Aviation Operations (GE, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) earlier this year.
