Air New Zealand (NZ, Auckland International) has named Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini, Argentina, as its maiden South American destination with a 3x weekly service set to commence in December 2015. The flight, which will operate on-board a three class 304-seat B777-200(ER), will allow the carrier to offer Argentineans onward connectivity to Australia, Singapore and South East Asia via its Auckland International primary hub.
"We’ve made some great progress in laying the foundations, but our success in attracting more South American visitors to New Zealand relies heavily on air linkages and we look forward to working in a partnership with Air New Zealand in the coming months to build in-bound demand for the new service," the CEO of Tourism New Zealand, Kevin Bowler, said.
Air New Zealand will also enter into a code share agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery), subject to obtaining regulatory approvals, which will see the Argentine carrier's code return to the South Pacific market on the new route and on key connecting Trans-Tasman services. Air New Zealand will, in turn, code share on Aerolíneas Argentinas’ services to Brazil.
