Wamos Air (EB, Madrid Barajas) is the new brand of Spanish charter and ACMI operator Pullmantur Air (Madrid Barajas) that has been adapted following the sale of 81% of the shares in the carrier by cruise operator Royal Caribbean to Springwater in March 2014.
Other Grupo Pullmantur sister companies have similarly been rebranded with its tour operators now called Wamos Tours and Wamos Circuitos. Royal Caribbean continues to hold a 19% minority stake in the group but will focus on cruises going forward. The cruise operator had agreed with Springwater as part of the initial sales transaction that it would have to start using a different brand from this winter. The new owners hope to establish Wamos as a third strong tour operator in Spain and Latin America in addition to Globalia and Barceló.
Wamos Air plans to add two additional B747-400s in 2015 adding to its four aircraft already used on long-haul leisure flights between Spain and the Caribbean as well as on charter and ACMI services for third party customers including Royal Caribbean and Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) for example.
