Russian Sky Airlines (Moscow Domodedovo) along with Polet (Voronezh Chertovitskoye) and Air Samara (Samara Kurumoch) have had their respective Air Operator's Certificates (AOC) revoked by Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) with immediate effect.
In its directive, the agency judged Russian Sky's future prospects in the country's worsening market bleak leading to the revocation while in Air Samara's case, the agency found that the airline had failed to comply with requirements and standards for the collection, processing and analysis of flight information in addition to violating rules governing flight operations. This, it said, had been a contributory factor in the hard landing of an Air Samara Beech (twin piston) King Air 350i at Samara Kurumoch airport in November last year.
In Polet's case, the agency said the carrier's poor financial status coupled with a deterioration of key performance indicators warranted the revocation of its AOC. Both factors could impact passengers rights and safety, it said. In the wake of the suspension of scheduled passenger operations, CEO Anatoly Karpov said in December that he would be willing to part with a 49% stake in the company but to no avail.
