Ten Airways (Bucharest Baneasa) has ended operations after the Romanian civil aviation authority (Autoritatea Aeronautică Civilă Română - AACR) suspended its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) on January 19. No reason for the suspension was given, but according to a Ten Airways spokesperson, the carrier hopes to have the AOC restored shortly after its planned winter break is over.
The carrier specializes in charter and ACMI operations with a fleet of three MD-82s and three MD-83s. Its Low Cost Carrier venture, Fly Romania (Bucharest Henri Coanda), died a quick death in September last year, just 6 months after its official launch.
