PenAir (Anchorage Ted Stevens) will add a maiden trio of ex-Hendrick Motorsports (Concord, NC) Saab 2000s (cn 20, 27 and 32) to its current all Saab (Sweden) fleet of thirteen Saab 340Bs and two Saab 340(F)s ch-aviation has learned. The turboprops will be leased from Jetstream Aviation Capital and used on Penair's Alaskan route network.

According to statements made by Penair CEO Danny Seybert to the Alaska Business Monthly, the aircraft will initially operate on the carrier's Anchorage-Dutch Harbor route that Penair operates on behalf of Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International) from mid-summer when the first aircraft gets delivered. The other two aircraft are due before the end of the year.
