Airlines PNG (Port Moresby) is one of several airlines that have placed firm orders for ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) aircraft in 2014 without the orders being disclosed earlier.
According to a presentation shared with ch-aviation by ATR, Avianca Brasil (São Paulo Congonhas) parent Synergy Group has placed an order for additional 10 ATR72-600s (and 20 options). Airlines PNG has ordered six of the aircraft (and 14 options) while other carriers in the region have also ordered ATR's best seller nowadays. Air New Zealand (NZ, Auckland International) has placed an order for five of the type for its Mount Cook Airline (Christchurch) subsidiary while Air Calédonie (TY, Nouméa Magenta) has ordered four and secured itself an option for a fifth of the type.
Elsewhere, Air Caraibes (TX, Pointe à Pitre) has ordered another three aircraft while Air Tahiti (VT, Papeete) has signed for another two (plus option). FlyMe (Maldives) (Malé) has ordered one ATR72-600 and got itself an option for another aircraft.
The only undisclosed ATR42-600 orders came from Indonesia's charter operator Travira Air (TVV, Jakarta Halim) and and unknown Taiwanese start-up called Global Airlines for one aircraft each.
