Virgin Atlantic (VS, London Heathrow) has tentatively picked VS 251 from Shanghai Pudong to London Heathrow on March 29 as its final scheduled revenue service with an A340-300, Airline Route reports. The decision is subject to change.
Currently, the airline operates two Airbus A340-300 aircraft with an average age of 18.1 years. According to schedule data, the two aircraft, namely G-VSUN (cn 114) and G-VELD (cn 214), are currently only deployed on services between Heathrow and Shanghai.
Between March 30 and June 15, Virgin Atlantic plans to use A340-600s on the route prior to deploying new B787-9s.
