Air France (AF, Paris CDG) will resume services to the Sierra Leonian capital, Freetown, with effect from June 30. The 3x weekly route to/from Paris CDG will operate on-board an A330-200.
The French carrier, along with several other international airlines, suspended flights to West Africa in August last year following the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus which killed 11,079 people in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Mali and the United States.
Other airlines that have indicated they will resume their own services to previously affected countries include Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) which was recently given the go-ahead by the Kenyan Ministry of Health to restart its Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta-Accra-Monrovia Roberts-Nairobi route.
