SATA Internacional (Ponta Delgada) is planning to phase out its A310-300 fleet in favour of A330-200s on transatlantic flights to Boston and Oakland International in the United States and Montréal Trudeau and Toronto Pearson in Canada.
Local paper, Diário dos Açores, suggests the carrier will lease the jets which sources have claimed are likely to be G-CINP (cn 353) and G-CINR (cn 362) formerly VT-IWA and VT-IWB with Air India (AI, Delhi International). The aircraft, currently in Lisbon undergoing maintenance, are expected to make their commercial debut with SATA around October of this year.
The Azorian national carrier also operates four A320-200s and two Dash 8-200s on regional European and inter-island flights.
