Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) has indeed signed a firm order agreement for the purchase of six B787-8s Boeing (BOE, Washington National) has disclosed. The order was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the US manufacturer's order site.
In April, the Ethiopian national carrier's CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said his airline was in the market for between six and eight early model B787-8s from Boeing.
As such, it is currently uncertain which airframes those announced in this order are.
Ethiopian operates thirteen B787-8s on flights throughout Africa, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, and North and South America.
