TruJet (TRJ, Hyderabad International) has secured its Air Operators Permit (AOP) from the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ahead of its planned launch on July 12.
The start-up has already leased two ex-Berjaya Air (J8, Kuala Lumpur Subang) ATR72-500s with plans to acquire three more by March next year.
Based in Hyderabad International, TruJet will cater to the south and western Indian markets serving Rajahmundry, Bengaluru International and Chennai initially before expanding to Tirupati, Aurangabad, Mangalore Bajpe, Hubli, and Vijayawada. There, it will compete with Air Costa (Vijayawada), Air Pegasus (Bengaluru International), and fellow start-up FlyEasy (Bengaluru International) which is targeting an October launch date.
