Kiwi Regional Airlines (Hamilton, NZ) says one of its shareholders - 2 Cheap Cars - has acquired a Saab 340A (msn 340A-065) from Poland's SprintAir (P8, Warsaw Chopin) ahead of the airline's proposed launch on September 27. The start-up expects the Saab (Sweden) (SCT, Linköping Saab) twinprop to arrive in New Zealand in the coming weeks in time for it to complete its certification with the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ).

A second of the type is expected to arrive in the coming months.

In line with plans to offer increased connectivty between New Zealand's North and South Islands, Kiwi Regional will initially offer a double-daily return Dunedin-Queenstown International flight complimenting a daily Dunedin-Nelson, NZ-Hamilton, NZ return flight.

Other destinations expected to launch during 2016 include Auckland Whenuapai (subject to Royal New Zealand Air Force approval), Auckland International, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, and Blenheim.
