Blue 1 (Helsinki Vantaa) will conclude B717-200 operations during the last quarter of the year with the type's last flight - Stockholm Arlanda-Helsinki Vantaa - tentatively scheduled for November 6.
The SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) subsidiary's fleet has now been reduced to five of which three have been sold to Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) while the remaining two will head to Spanish LCC, Volotea (V7, Barcelona El Prat).
In a bid to drive down costs, SAS has been transforming Blue1 from a commercial airline focused on the Finnish domestic market, into a production company offering flexible wet-lease services to the Scandinavian carrier. As such, to help keep costs down, SAS will replenish Blue1's fleet with B737-600s the first five of which will be repositioned from SAS's Oslo Gardermoen and Stockholm Arlanda bases to Finland this autumn.
