LC Perú (LCB, Lima International) general manager Carlos Carmona says his airline will, during 2016, expand its international footprint beyond the current 3x weekly Iquitos-Leticia, Colombia service it operates.
In an interview with Peru's El Comercio newspaper, Carmona said the carrier would roll out flights to Quito International and Guayaquil in Ecuador and La Paz El Alto and Santa Cruz Viru Viru in Bolivia during the first quarter of next year followed by Miami International in the United States in the last quarter.
"We have already obtained permission from the Peruvian civil aviation authority (Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil - DGAC) to perform these operations and are on track to add five Boeing (BOE, Washington National) five jets to carry them out," he said.
With a trio of B737-500s already in operation, the Peruvian carrier intends to add three B737-200Advs for regional South American flights while a pair of B737-900(ER)s will be used for flights to North America.
Of the new aircraft, Carmona said, half will be leased while the other half will be acquired outright.
Founded in 1993 as LC Busre (Lima International), LC Perú's fleet is, at present, dominated by five Dash 8-200s used to ply flights from its Lima International and Chiclayo (from October onwards) bases to eight destinations locally.
