Tuva Avia (Kyzyl) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Russia's State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) for the lease of ten SSJ 100/95s. Announced during the recently ended MAKS Airshow 2015 at Zhukovsky, the arrival of the first jets is slated for next year with the last scheduled to arrive in 2018.
As one of Russia's southern-most republics straddling the border with Mongolia, the state-backed carrier plans to use the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (Zhukovsky) SuperJets to upgrade its current fleet of ageing An-2s and Yak-40s. The state also intends to upgrade Kyzyl airport to allow it to handle A320- and B737-sized aircraft.
