bmi british midland (Nottingham East Midlands) has taken a 99% stake in British Airways (BA/London Heathrow) franchise carrier BMed (KJ/London Heathrow). It is planning to fully integrate BMed by the end of the summer timetable period on October 28. BMed will continue to operate as a BA franchise carrier with its fleet of 3 A320-200s and 5 A321-200s in the meantime. bmi is also expanding its route network: Aberdeen-Brussels: 6x weekly ERJ-135 service starting on April 16 operated by bmi regional (BD/Aberdeen) Aberdeen-Kristiansand: 6x weekly ERJ-135/145 service starting on April 10 operated by bmi regional Edinburgh-Zurich: daily ERJ-145 service starting on March 26 operated by bmi regional Leeds/Bradford-Amsterdam: daily ERJ-135/145 service starting on March 26 operated by bmi regional Leeds/Bradford-Lille: 5x weekly ERJ-145 service starting on April 23 operated by bmi regional London Heathrow-Alicante: daily seasonal A320-200 service between June 30 and September 9 London Heathrow-Jersey: 2x daily A319-100/A320-200/ERJ-145 service starting on March 25 London Heathrow-Nice: daily A319-100 resuming on May 3 bmi has suspended its London Heathrow-Paris CDG route and will give up its Leeds/Bradford-Paris CDG route on March 23. In other news, bmi has wet-leased an A330-200 to Virgin Nigeria (VK/Lagos).
