Vistara (Delhi International) shareholders Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) injected a total of INR2 billion (USD29.92 million) into the carrier last month Indian media reports have stated. The infusion brings the total funding poured into the fledgling domestic carrier to INR5 billion (USD74.8 million) since the project's inception in 2013 as Tata SIA Airlines (Delhi International).
A further INR1 billion (USD14.96 million) is expected of their original funding pledge of INR6 billion (USD89.76 million). New shares were issued to each firm with the recapitalization.
Vistara is a 51/49 joint-venture between Tata Group and the Singaporeans. Currently the airline operates a total of six A320-200 (sl)s on flights to eleven destinations throughout India.
