InterSky (Friedrichshafen) is to be sold off Peter Oncken, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of shareholder INTRO Aviation, has disclosed. Speaking to Austrian Aviation Net, Oncken confirmed talks with a prospective, albeit undisclosed, buyer are already underway.
"We have gone through the various inquiries conscientiously. One investor in particular provides the company with good prospects, both financially and strategically," he said. "As they want to acquire 100% of the shares, it still requires some agreements among Intersky's shareholders. But I am confident that we can reach an agreement and conclude a deal this month."
Owned by businessman Hans Rudolf Wöhrl, Intro Aviation is a turnaround specialist whose past successes include the acquisition, restructuring and resale of Deutsche BA (Munich) from British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) to Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) in 2003/4.
Aside from Intro Aviation GmbH with a 24.7% stake, InterSky counts its other shareholders as PEON Beteiligungs GmbH (Oncken) with 25.1%, Intro Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (Wöhrl) with 25.1%, the Rolf Seewald Brigitte Private Foundation with 22.1%, and Rolf, Günter and Christian Seewald with 1% each.
Founded in 2002, InterSky specializes in flights connecting regional markets in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It currently operates three Dash 8-300s as well as a pair of ATR72-600s that may head to Equatorial Guinea for a 24-month long lease contract with Punto Azul (Malabo).
